At monthly meetings, we draw for a door prize.
If your name is drawn and you are wearing your name tag, YOU WIN!!!

General Directions:

Make in Guild Colors: Red, White and Blue
Make all seams ¼ inch
Finished block measures 5" plus binding
Refer to the diagrams as you sew your tag

Cutting Directions

Use the measurements provided and your rotary cutter.

Red Fabric:

Cut 8 - 1½ inch squares
Cut 2 - 2 inch squares

White Fabric:

Cut 6 - 1½ inch squares
Cut 1 - 1½ by 3½ inch rectangle

Blue Fabric:

Cut 4 - 1½ inch squares
Cut 2 - 2 inch squares

Cut one of each

6 inch square of backing fabric of your choice.
6 inch square of batting of your choice.

Cut Binding desired width by 25 inches. Use fabric of your choice

Sewing Directions

Step 1:

Making half-square triangle units. You will need 4

  1. Place one red and one blue 2 inch squares right sides together. Repeat with the second pair of squares.
  2. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the lightest fabric as shown on below.

  4. Stitch ¼ inch from both sides of the drawn line. Repeat.
    Your sewn block will resemble the one shown below

  6. Cut on drawn center line to make 2 red and blue half square triangle blocks. Repeat. You should have four red and blue half square triangle blocks when you are finished. Press seam towards the darker fabric

  8. Trim all 4 squares to measure 1½ inches.
    ***This is important, do not skip this step***
Step 2:

Using the name tag diagram,

lay our your cut pieces to match the diagram, putting the correct colors where labeled


Step 3:

Sew together the blocks into rows, sew rows together. It should measure 5½ inches square


Step 4:

Put your name in the center white rectangle as shown in the diagram.

Use your embellishment method of choice such as embroidery, pigma pen, cross stitch, etc.


Step 5:

Put the pieced name tag over the batting and backing. Quilt as desired.


Step 6:

Put on your binding.
